Regular radiation survey of educational and preschool institutions, objects of building industry, transport, public health, industry, as well as housing and public utilities

Complex system of the population radiation safety has been working in the capital for more than 20 years. It includes radiation-ecological monitoring of the living environment, control and registration of radioactive materials and waste, their assessment concerning irradiation effects, as well as subsystems for revelation, localization and liquidation of radioactive pollutions, management of radioactive waste and making of management decisions on prevention and reducing negative effects of radiation on human health.

Annually, according to special plans approved by the Moscow Government, in order to protect the Moscow residents’ health, the enterprise specialists fulfill radiation survey of educational and child preschool institutions, objects of building industry, housing and communal services, transport, public health services, industry, as well as radiation control of items and building materials. Annually up to 700 objects of the city infrastructure, including more than 300 school and preschool institutions. Moreover, medical, educational and child preschool institutions are examined on the presence of mercury vapor. In the course of observations the radiation situation on the Moscow territory hasn’t undergone serious changes and controlled figures fall within the limits of statistic averages.
