Radiation-ecological survey of the territories intended for construction

According to the data given by the Radon specialists, more than 70% of revealed contamination cases relate to residential communities with intensive development as well as green zones of the capital. In 1950s-1960s just there were household rubbish landfills, and low-level radioactive industrial waste considered to be relatively harmless. Thus, for the purpose of protecting health of new settlers, in 1996 the Moscow Government issued a special order upon obligatory preliminary radiation-ecological survey of the territories intended for construction.

Since, any new construction project begins from radiation-ecological survey, which includes:

  • pedestrian and motor gamma-survey of the territory
  • radiometric and spectrometric analysis of soil samples for content of natural and induced radionuclides
  • measurement of density of radioactive radon gas flux from the soil surface.
