Personal dosimetry

Personal dosimetry (PD) of the professional irradiation in normal conditions of ionizing radiation sources (IRS) exploitation consists in reliable and timely determination of personal effective doses of the personnel external and internal irradiation in order to assess sufficiency of measures undertaken to control IRS and assure safety of IRS usage in accordance with the Norms and Regulations.

Personal dosimetry includes:

  • determination of the personal effective dose of external irradiation;
  • assessment of the committed effective dose of the personnel internal dose according to the results of radioactive aerosols concentration measurements at working places taking into account the personnel stay time;
  • assessment of the enterprise personnel individual radiation risks based on the Dose matrix concept;
  • dosimetry data analyses in order to control non-exceeding of control and permissible levels;
  • maintenance of generalized database on the personnel PD, including relevant information about the personnel;
  • insertion of changes and additions into individual dosimetry cards and PD database;
  • preparation of protocols and reports by PD results;
  • organization and taking field dose measurements, measurements in industrial and residential buildings and rooms, in technological cycles of industrial, pilot and research plants, RW storage facilities.

Within the scope of PD at the enterprise three types of control are carried out: current, operational and emergency.
